Corporate architecture.
For the laboratory Dr. Quade & Kollegen, Vollack planned and realized forward-looking company headquarters in Cologne Ossendorf with administration, practices close to the laboratory and a company kindergarten. The materials, shapes and colors of the building ideally reflect the identity of the company - in the spirit of corporate architecture. So-called “plasma ceilings” in the corridors, decorated with abstract blood cells, absorb the sound in the rooms - aesthetically and functionally. The contrast between the sandstone-coloured administration building with modern, white aluminium curtain wall elements and the rear-ventilated, perforated aluminium façade of the laboratory building in the corporate color blue reveals the complexity and agility of the company. Depending on the weather, this changes in an elegant play of colors.
Optimal conditions.
A company kindergarten is available for the more than 200 employees, creating a good work-life balance. An underground car park with more than 130 parking spaces and the expansion of a reliable charging infrastructure for electric vehicles also ensure optimal conditions.
Sustainable and crisis-proof energy concept.
With a biogas-powered combined heat and power plant in combination with heat pumps and chillers, the laboratory is positioning itself sustainably for the future. A photovoltaic system on the roof also supplies the buildings with renewable energy. As the laboratory is part of the critical infrastructure in the city of Cologne's healthcare system, a completely self-sufficient supply of electricity, heating and cooling was ensured. This enables normal operation even if the public infrastructure fails. The building's air conditioning is designed in such a way that even at outside temperatures of 46 degrees Celsius, an inside temperature of 24 degrees Celsius would not be exceeded - thus ensuring the right conditions for laboratory analyses.
A modern ventilation and filter concept guarantees healthy air quality. Flood protection measures safeguard the building even in the event of heavy rainfall.
