Volocopter

Next landing point: a new era of aviation.

For the pioneer in urban air mobility Volocopter, a production and maintenance hall with office and storage space and a large outdoor area for tests, take-offs and landings was built on a total area of almost 11,000 square meters.

The flexible, open design was optimized to meet the spatial requirements of the aircraft. In addition to functionality, safety and efficiency, the focus was on design features. The client's brand design and corporate design are clearly reflected in the new building. The color scheme of the façade, in contrasting shades and horizontally structured, emphasizes the filigree contours of the building.

An "office cockpit" on the upper floor combines the most important office and technical functions. Test and demonstration areas in all common surfaces for take-off and landing operations are being created in the outdoor area of around 4,000 square meters, including so-called helipads for high-rise buildings, a special construction with a characteristic planking system.

"From here, electric air cabs will make their way into the world and permanently change the way we move around in cities."

Volocopter CEO Dirk Hoke at the inauguration of the new building

The air cab pioneer inaugurated its new hangar, including take-off and landing site, with a ceremony. Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport, Winfried Kretschmann, Minister President of the State of Baden-Württemberg, and Dr. Anna Christmann, Federal Government Coordinator for German Aerospace Policy, also took part in the opening ceremony, which included a manned flight with the Volocopter 2X. Minister Wissing emphasized: "Germany is already a world leader in the production of air cabs - also thanks to the great inventiveness of Volocopter." The airfield permit was also issued just in time for the opening: Up to 50 VoloCity aircraft are to leave the production facility every year, which will operate as air cabs in the world's major cities. Volocopter relied on the experts from Vollack for the design, planning and implementation.
