Atlas Copco EPS

New face for Altas Copco EPS

Innovative gathering place.

In Neustadt a.d. Donau the Electronics Competence Center at the headquarters of Atlas Copco, one of the world's leading solution providers of systems and equipment for bonding, dosing and potting processes, is an innovative location for electronics manufacturing technologies. The company has tripled its floor space with the architecturally sophisticated building, which is sustainable in all respects. The pioneering new building was constructed to the KfW 40 standard.

The building ensemble with an area of around 4,000 square meters on two floors is divided into three strikingly designed building cubes, which create a green center with the existing building through their arrangement on the property. This Green Yard for employees and guests represents the new face of Atlas Copco EPS with an innovative photovoltaic façade and shows in a very impressive way how future-oriented the company is positioning itself with the topics of sustainability, ecology and well-being.

BIPV façade as an architectural highlight.

A total of 98 PV modules with a total output of 38 kilowatt peak per hour and an annual energy yield of around 25,600 kilowatt hours were installed in the façade and provide green solar energy. The modules can be experienced far into the room thanks to the play of light and shadow and are an architectural highlight.

Further PV systems on the roof and the carport complete the intelligent energy concept that Vollack planned for the building owners: with 710 additional PV modules on an area of around 1,400 square meters and an additional output of more than 300 kilowatt peak per hour, more than 87 percent of the energy requirements will be covered in future. In addition, ecologically sound building services with heat pump technology and heat recovery contribute to the sustainability of the building.

Awarded the Bavarian BIM Prize.

Vollack and the Electronics Competence Center applied for the Bavarian BIM Prize and were awarded the special prize for “Rural Areas” in the “Comprehensive use of BIM models” category. The BIM prize is intended to strengthen the digitization offensive, which also offers considerable opportunities in the planning and construction sector with regard to economically and ecologically optimal construction projects. In the construction industry, it represents Building 4.0, so to speak.

The Electronics Competence Center planned and implemented by Vollack is the place where we shape the future together with our partners. Here, our customers have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for successfully overcoming their challenges in electronics encapsulation."
