Climate-friendly: high-tech in hybrid timber construction.
The new four-story office and production building with a gross floor area of around 5,300 square meters will complement the campus of Berlin.Industrial.Group (B.I.G.), a dynamic association of highly specialized technology companies and startups. The five-hectare B.I.G. campus currently comprises six buildings with offices, workshops, production areas, and a makerspace. Here, B.I.G. companies and startups develop solutions for future-oriented industries such as medical technology, mechanical engineering, energy, and environmental protection.
Vollack is planning and constructing the new building using sustainable hybrid timber construction methods, which permanently binds CO2 in the building structure thanks to the high proportion of wood used. In combination with building technology such as air heat pumps, component activation, and photovoltaics on the roof, this creates a pioneering building with sustainable and tailor-made working environments. In the future, this will be the headquarters of Scansonic, the largest B.I.G. company and a market leader in laser technologies, with more space for development and exchange as well as the production of its laser technology solutions.
