Landratsamt Kehl

Efficient and sustainable all around.

A project that shows how modern administration, citizen-friendliness, and climate protection can go hand in hand: in just one and a half years of construction, the district's new four-story building was erected on the barracks site behind the train station in Kehl. With this approximately 3,500-square-meter building, the Ortenau district has consolidated its offices in Kehl. Vollack planned and implemented an open, service-oriented administrative facility that meets the high standards of modern administration, is barrier-free, and is also easily accessible by public transportation.

The building will meet the highest energy standards, as it is designed as a KfW Efficiency House 40. Vollack will use the thermal storage capacity of concrete for an efficient heating and cooling supply. So-called concrete core activation, in combination with a seasonal ground storage system, will reliably ensure comfortable temperatures in the building. Green energy will be produced by a photovoltaic system. Vollack also relies on regional recycled concrete. Its advantages lie in local value creation, short supply chains and the conservation of resources compared to conventional concrete.

The building meets the highest energy standards, as it is designed as a KfW Efficiency House 40 and is aiming for DGNB silver certification. Vollack used the thermal storage capacity of concrete to ensure efficient heating and cooling. Concrete core activation, in combination with seasonal ground storage, reliably ensures pleasant temperatures in the building. A photovoltaic system and geothermal energy with 13 geothermal probes produced 100 percent green energy. In addition, Vollack opted for regional recycled concrete in its planning. Its advantages lie in local value creation, short supply chains, and the conservation of resources compared to conventional concrete.

We are delighted to have found a competent partner in Vollack for the implementation of this forward-looking project. The new building meets the highest energy standards."
