A model daycare center.
Located within a historic district and in a drinking water protection zone, a new, resource-efficient after-school care center was built using sustainable timber construction methods for the Oberlinhaus Association while the daycare center remained in operation. The approximately 900-square-meter building offers 95 children, both with and without disabilities, ever-changing views through its numerous floor-to-ceiling windows.
The children look out at nearby historic buildings, across meadows and fields, and at the new adventure playground, or feel as if they’re in a treehouse, as their gaze falls deep into the canopy of the old trees.
Experience with all your senses.
Children play and learn across two floors in a modern, light-filled environment. In addition to a fully equipped kitchen for fresh meals every day, the daycare center also offers rooms for sports, media education, music, and even a science lab for experiments and discoveries. In the garden, children can harvest fruits and vegetables, helping to shape healthy meals in the children’s kitchen.

We and the children are very happy with the result. In collaboration with Vollack, we have designed and created a sustainable play and learning environment that we are thrilled with.
