School of nursing and healthcare center.
For the Bethanien Moers Foundation, Vollack planned and constructed a school of nursing and a healthcare center, bringing both functions together under one roof. The three-story building, including a setback top floor, comprises a gross floor area of approximately 5,300 square meters. A brick façade at the entrance, horizontally structured by balconies, gives the building an attractive, bright, and airy appearance. Compared with a conventional building, the BEG 55-funded facility consumes 45 percent less energy.
A school of nursing with a forward-looking approach.
The new nursing school provides approximately 25 employees with ten classrooms equipped to modern standards. For hands-on training, three so-called skills labs have been created. Designed like patient rooms, they enable realistic simulation and practice of nursing situations. A creativity workshop, meeting rooms, learning hubs as flexible study areas, staff rooms, and a library complete the facility.
Multiple medical specialties under one roof.
The healthcare center is home to the outpatient clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine, a pharmacy, and a medical supply store. In addition to the practices of the Medical Care Center (MVZ), the Cardiology Practice Moers and the Oncology Practice Moers are also located in the building.
All practices benefit from close networking with the hospital and opportunities for professional exchange, while Bethanien has been able to expand its range of medical services through the addition of these healthcare providers. The close proximity to the Bethanien Hospital is another key advantage.
Especially in times of a shortage of skilled nursing professionals, constructing a school of nursing was an important step for us. The location of our new healthcare center, directly on the Bethanien campus, creates very short distances, particularly to the hospital. Everyone benefits from this, especially our patients.
