The new European headquarters in Ostfildern will provide Citizen Machinery Europe, a subsidiary of Citizen Machinery Japan, with a new location that combines office, showroom, and production facilities. The building offers approximately 8,000 square meters of gross floor area.

All office and administrative functions will be organized on a continuous level extending from the first floor of the office building into the production area via a gallery level. On the ground floor, public areas including the showroom and cafeteria connect directly to the customer-accessible testing area within the production hall.

As a response to the limited site size, parts of the office building are elevated, creating additional outdoor space for bicycle parking, a terrace area, and a weather-protected entrance. Hybrid timber floor structures are incorporated into the office and showroom areas.

Architecture with a Distinct Identity.

The architectural concept draws inspiration from the forms and structures of a mechanical watch. Elements such as the dial, hands, and hour markers are translated into architectural features throughout the building.

This design approach is reflected in structural elements including angled columns, façade details, and components of the curtain wall system.

The material and color palette follows Citizen's global corporate identity, combining white metal façades with dark window bands and surfaces that define the building's appearance.

A central element of the building concept is the heating and cooling supply system, which combines a district heating network with ground-source and air-to-water heat pumps. The concept is complemented by photovoltaic installations on the roofs and façades. Additional façade areas will feature planted greenery.
